Boys Hockey

On Thursday, December 4th, the Senior Boys Hockey team faced off against Harrow at home. Brennan beat them by a score of 7-2. Goals were scored by Zack Mayea with two, Jack Perryman, Liam Hogan, Chase Kavanaugh, Sean Burke and Joey Goulawski. Player of the game was Zack Mayea who had an outstanding offensive outburst. The boys face off against Kingsville next week.

Junior Boys Basketball

The F.J. Brennan Junior Boys Basketball team started off the season against Cardinal Carter at home on Thursday, December 4th 2014. The boys lost to Cardinal Carter 62-35. The boys hope to take a win against Belle River on Tuesday, December 9th 2014.

On December 9th, the Brennan Cardinals Junior Girls Volleyball team played and won against Belle River by a score of 2-1. Point leaders for the team were Sydney Hryniw with 15 kills, and Drew Kavanaugh with 8.

Junior Girls Basketball

On Tuesday October 28th, the Junior Girls Basketball team faced off against Sandwich at Brennan but fell short by a score of 40-21.

The Junior Girls played a play-in game against Assumption on Friday October 31st but fell short.  This was the official end of their season.  

Senior Boys Volleyball Playoffs

On Friday October 31st, the Brennan Senior Boys Volleyball team took on Leamington in the first round of playoff action. The boys started off strong in the first set, putting together 12 points in a row, and looking hot. But eventually cooled down and ended up losing the first set. They then lost the second set, but bounced back for a good third set, winning handedly. The fourth set was a battle, but the boys lost a heartbreaker, with a final score of 25-23. This ended the Cards season.  Offensive MVP was Eric Kirby, while the defensive MVP was Evan Mihalic. The boys gave it their all in a tough season against much bigger schools with more experience in their players. They are looking to bounce back next year with more chemistry, and grit.

Junior Boys Volleyball Playoffs

The Brennan Junior Boys Volleyball team started their playoff run playing Herman on Brennan’s home court on Friday, October 31st.  The Brennan boys came out real strong and won 3-0 in the preliminary round. The first set was won by Brennan 25-16, the second set was a blow out 25-8, and the third set was a lot closer 25-15.

In quarter-final action they travelled to L’essor on Monday, November 3rd. They ended up losing the playoff game and ending their season by a 3-1 loss. Brennan lost the first set by a score of 15-25, the second set Brennan won by a score of 25-20, and they lost the third and fourth sets by scores of 20-25.  All really close sets, but Brennan couldn’t pull out the victory.

Junior Boys Football Playoffs

On Wednesday November 5th, the Junior Boys Football team played in a semi-final game against St. Thomas of Villanova.  Despite the obvious effort, they fell by a score of 28-18.  Nick Rivait and Andrew Brownlee led the Cards’ offense once again, each scoring a touchdown.  Cole Truant also impressed again kicking yet another 25 yard field goal and converting one of the teams major scores.  The final 2 points came from the defense as they forced the Wildcats to concede.  Mitchell McPhee led an exciting passing play completing passes to Andrew Brownlee, Cole Truant, and RJ Brophey.  On the defensive end Ian Campbell recovered 3 fumbles and Jake Graham intercepted a pass for a 30 yard return.  Capping off the season with 3 wins 4 losses it was an overall good season for the Junior Cards football team.  Congrats on a great season!!

Senior Girls Basketball Playoffs

The Brennan Senior Girls Basketball team had their quarter-final game on Monday, November 3rd at Essex. The final score was Brennan 37 and Essex 27. The player of the game was Quinn MacIsaac with 12 points and Katie Clement chipped in with 11 points.


After winning their quarter-final game they had their semi-final game Wednesday, November 5th at Amherst.  The final score was Amherst 54 and Brennan 16. Great season girls!!! GO CARDINALS GO.

Junior Boys Volleyball

The Brennan Junior Boys Volleyball team traveled to Tecumseh Vista Academy high school on Tuesday, October 28th. The Brennan boys won the game winning 2-1 in sets. The first set was won by Brennan 25-23, they lost the second set 20-25, and the third set Brennan won 25-21.

Brennan traveled to Essex to play their final game of the season on Thursday, October 30th.  The boys lost to Essex 2-1.

Junior Boys Football

On Wednesday October 29th, the Cards were pinned against the Belle River Nobels.  Despite a good overall effort by the Cards, they couldn’t convert plays and lost by a score of 6-3.  Brennan’s own Cole Truant provided a 30 yard field goal to open the scoring.  Shortly after this both teams saw an offensive struggle in a see-saw battle.  Both teams took advantage of mistakes the other made, specifically the Nobels when Brennan made some bad tackles on a punt return.  This led to the games only touchdown, and Cody B. blocked the extra point.   Despite the clear effort the Cards were putting out, they were not able to get a major score.  Austin S. intercepted a Belle River pass as the Cards defense frustrated the Belle River offense.  This loss puts the Cards’ record at 3 wins 4 losses, placing 5th during the regular season.  A semi-final game will be held at Brennan against Villanova.  Come out and cheer on the Cards next week. Senior Girls Basketball

On Tuesday October 28th Brennan Senior Girls Basketball team played Sandwich. They played at Brennan. The final score was Sandwich 45 and Brennan 29. Shae-Lyn MacIsaac scored 7 points and so did Quinn MacIsaac. The girls look to win their playoff game next week against Essex. GO CARDINALS GO!!!!!

Junior Girls Basketball

This week the Brennan Junior Girls Basketball team played L’Essor on Wednesday October 15th at L’Essor.  Brennan was edged by L’Essor by a score of 59-17. Meghan M led the Cardinals with 5 points.

Senior Girls Basketball

The Brennan Senior Girls Basketball team played Holy Names on Tuesday October 21st. They played at Brennan. The final score was Holy Names 48 Brennan 8.  They also played Catholic Central. They played at Catholic Central on Thursday October 23rd. After a tough game against Holy Names they looked to improve their record and they did with a hard fought victory!!!  The final score was Brennan 33 Catholic Central 30. Daniella led the team with ten points. Clutch Clement was back to seal the win with two crucial free throws. Go Cardinals go!




Junior Boys Football

Hello fellow Cardinals!  On Monday Oct. 20th, the Jr. Boys Football team defeated St. Anne by a score of 24-0.  Andrew B. scored 2 of Brennan’s touchdowns, and Nick R. ran another long one into the endzone.  All 3 Brennan majors were converted by Cole T. Cole also kicked a 20 yard field goal to wrap up the Brennan scoring.  The Cards are flying high trying to escape the grasp of the Cardinal Carter Cougars.  Wish them luck, and as always, Go Cards!!!



On Tuesday October 21st Brennan had a tough match against the Cardinal Carter Cougars.  They overcame the challenge and won the game 23-20.  Coming back from a difference of 20-10 early in the second half the Cards scored 13 unanswered points.  Nick D. scored twice on 2  long runs, and Austin J. tallied the other major score for Brennan.  Cole T. converted 2 of the scores and provided a field goal to take the winning score.  This puts their record at 3 wins and 3 losses with a game next week against the Belle River Nobles at Brennan.  Come on out and support the team!!

Senior Boys Football

On October 24th the Brennan Cardinals faced off against L’essor.  Brennan came out victorious by a score of 35-7.  The game took place at Brennan where Liam Leclair threw for 3 td passes. Pren Dunaj also had a td from an interception.  The Cards played great defensively.  

Senior Boys Volleyball

On Tuesday, October 21, the Brennan Senior Boys Volleyball team traveled out to Amherstburg to take on the General Amherst Bull Dogs. The boys lost a tough one in the first set by a close score of 25-23, and never seemed to recover. The following two sets were lost as well. The boys worked hard, and kept up for all the games, but just got the short end of the stick. Offensive player of the game was Evan Mihalic, while the defensive player of the game was Jared Beens, showing his usual hustle and leadership all game. The boys take on Villanova next.  

On Thursday October 23, Brennan took on the Villanova volleyball team at Brennan. Being challenged by the best team in the league, and debatably one of the top teams in Ontario, Brennan held their own pretty well, but still lost all three sets, by scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-17. Offensive player of the game was Mackenzie, coming in with clutch kills, and consistent serves all night. Defensive player of the game was Ryan, staying strong against the powerful Villanova serves and hits.

This week the Brennan Junior Girls Basketball team played L’Essor on Wednesday October 15th at L’Essor.  Brennan was edged by L’Essor by a score of 59-17. Meghan M led the Cardinals with 5 points.

Senior Boys Football

The Senior Boys Football team played Belle River High School on October 10th.  This game was played at Brennan.  Belle River beat the Cardinals in a low scoring game by a score of 9-2 with a safety scored for both teams.

Golf

On October 9th the F.J. Brennan golf team played in the WECCSSA Tournament, and even through tough conditions, Brennan was represented very well.  A big congratulations goes out to Matthew T, who was chosen as the team MVP, and player of the day.  He also won the coaches choice award, WAY TO GO MATT!

Week of October 6th

Hello Cardinals! Prepare to congratulate your own Jr. Cardinal Football team on their first win of the season.  The team clinched their first win against Essex.  The games final score was 22-8 with 2 touchdowns from Nick R. including one on the first play from scrimmage.  The Cards’ 3rd major came from Eddie M. on his first carry of the year. Cole T. rounded out the scoring converting the 3 TD’s and scoring a single on a field goal attempt.  This puts the Cards at 1 win 2 losses this season so far.

Week of October 6th

This week the Brennan Senior Boys Volleyball team played a regular season game at Brennan against St. Annes. Brennan lost all three sets to a very powerful St. Annes team, with the final scores being 25-10, 25-10, and 25-12. Offensive player of the game was Evan M, with a few kills to try to help spark the Brennan team. Defensive player of the game was Mackenzie M with solid digs, and good consistency all around.

The Brennan Senior Boys Volleyball played their second game of the week at Brennan against Holy Names. Once again Brennan was matched up against a very skilled team in Holy Names, and battled hard throughout the game, but lost all three sets. The final scores of these sets were 25-13, 25-14, and 25-13. The offensive player of the game was Jared B, showing tremendous leadership and hustle as a setter throughout the game. Defensive player of the game was Adam K with great passes and effort.

Week of October 6th

The F.J. Brennan Junior boys volleyball team started off the week playing St.Anne’s on Brennan’s home court. The Brennan boys had a tough match losing all three games. The score of the first game was 25-13, second game was 25-14, and the third game was their closest losing 25-18. On Thursday, the boys traveled to Holy Names, where they had an even tougher match losing all three games. The score of the first game was 25-18, the score of the second game was 25-19, and the score of the third game was 25-19. The Junior boys look for their next win against Sandwhich next week.

Week of October 6th

Brennan was beat by the Herman Griffins by a score of 48-19. The girls played hard and were led by M. Bryant in points who had 8.

Brennan beat Kennedy by a score of 24-20. Scoring was led by Meghan McConnel with 6 points.

Senior Football

On Thursday October 2nd 2014 the Brennan Cardinals Sr. Football team faced Essex high school in an uneven matchup. In this game Essex was able to score 21 points while the Cardinals fell short not scoring any points.

Cross Country

Wednesday October 8th

The Brennan Cross Country team competed at Malden Park for the “Thrill on the Hill” competition. The top finishers from Brennan were:

Week of October 6th

This week the Brennan Cardinals Senior Girls Basketball team played two games.  They played at Herman losing by a score of 33 to 20.  The hustler of the game was Daniella P. and the defensive player of the game was Katelyn C. It was a tough loss to Herman, but an improvement working against a difficult defence.    


Brennan played Kennedy at home and defeated Kennedy by a score of 39 to 30.  The player of the game was Quinn M. with 14 points. Shae M. had 6 points and Nicole C, Hanna S,  and Rachel W. had 4 points each. GO CARDINALS GO!  Keep up the hard work!
